Communication on all fronts

July 8, 2012

I cannot tell you how wonderful it has been to get emails, calls, cards, responses on Facebook, RT’s on Twitter- every kind of communication possible today! Going through this hellish process is so difficult but going through it alone would be much worse. Now I feel the love and support of so many friends, near and far. Friends from my life now and friends from high school, friends from real life and from cyber space! All the comments and support are valuable and help me get through the weeks and days. The comments on posts, the words on responses on Facebook all come through on my e-mail so I get to read them everyday. I am grateful for all of them and feel so thankful for the caring community of friends I have made in my life.

Tomorrow I meet Dr. James Kolker, Radiation Oncology at PA Hospital, which I will need after I heal from the surgery. I need a lot more information about that whole process. He will be communicating a lot to me!! Norman is going with me with pad and pen in hand to take notes. Of course, the next day he is getting a bone scan for his own problem. My advice to you- stay young!! ( if it’s not too late)

    Linda,
I only found out about this a short while ago. Have faith in modern medicine; your cancer was caught very early.
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I’m sending a big hug and a cyber bowl of chicken soup!!
    Love,
    Amy Bursky

Linda! I have been so out of it lately with my own treatment that I just noticed this today for the first time. Who would have thought both of us would be diagnosed with this nasty breast cancer slightly less than a year after our residency last July at Vermont Studio Center.

I was diagnosed on June 6 after many weeks of tests etc. Mine was finally discovered with the MRI. That was a funky experience, right? I only have one small lump, that never would have shown up on a mammogram, but it has already caused activity in my right lymph nodes. Because I have the triple negative varitey they are throwing heavy duty chemo at me first in the hopes that it will shrink or possibly even disappear before my surgery.

I will follow your progress eagerly here and hope that we both will be able to say in another 6-7 months that we are cancer free! Let me know if you would like to talk at any time.

I hope you are still finding time for your creativity. I’m doing my best to keep my work going because I think it is a key part of my healing.

    Take care,

    -Joyce
